Zero Punctuations Review for Minecraft

Minecraft, a game that I have spent hours of my life playing and find quite an enjoyable game. Check out its review from Zero Punctuation and honestly the funniest review I have seen done in a long time and brings up some hilarious but somewhat true points about the game.

Official Duke Nukem Box-art

Freakin Awesome isn't it?

Certainly is a bad-ass case for a bad-ass game, the wait gets harder and harder.

Kingdom Hearts super mini review, plus a look at Disney Epic Mickey

It has been a while since I heard anything about that age old, cartoon icon Mickey Mouse. Not since I last played Kingdom Hearts back in 2006, which was an AWESOME game considering it was the the most odd fusion of two totally different art styles, characters, world, and setting ever thought of in human history. But regardless of being an odd mix of Square Enix and Disney it was a beautiful story matched with even a reasonable explanation on why those two worlds clashed. It held some of my most memorable experiences in my life of gaming and held some amazing charm. Its sequel didn't give me the same "wow" feeling when I beat the game but was just as good with the addition of a greatly improved combat system.

So now on to Disney Epic Mickey.
In Disney Epic Mickey, Mickey is the star of the show and apparently caused some trouble in the dumpster of the cartoon world known as Wasteland. So then after getting kidnapped by some blob thing he is forced to fix what he unknowingly screwed up. It looks interesting enough and if only I had a Wii I would pick it up. Check out the Review at IGN and see what you think of it>>>

First Legend of Zelda dungeon re-created and THE PSP2!!

Wow, the creative possibilities of Little big planet 2 get more and more in depth the more I read about it. Im VERY close to going to the store and picking up a copy of the game myself. I mean look at this>>>>

First Zelda Dungeon Faithfully Recreated In LittleBigPlanet 2 - News - www.GameInformer.com

It took just a WEEK for a determined and seemingly talented creator to make a NEAR PERFECT copy of the first dungeon in the first legend of zelda game. Go read about it to find out more.

In other more awesome news, Sony finally decided to release details about the PSP2 codenamed NGP. I knew we wasn't far off from a second PSP Console but with how much the old psp could do this may be one hell of a handheld and will DEFIANTLY make some healthy competition with Nintendo's 3DS.

Here is the story at IGN.com>>>>

HA finally Black Op's dirty bugs and glitches will get noticed

When I first played Black Ops I was severely disappointed. I was all hyped up about Black Ops as everyone else was, but to me it seems like a downgrade from MW 2 besides remote control trucks. I always thought Treyarch was always just pumping out EXTREMELY repetitive games and it wasn't until COD 4: MW that they started to get allot of real attention. Which was still basically the same as the rest except it had better graphics and more smoother and immersive game-play.

But all in all I liked to play COD during them moments I want to take a breather from games with more "personality" and NEVER bought a game until it dropped to 30 bucks, at least until MW 2 where they was decent enough to at least wait until the price first dropped. But I felt swagged with Black Ops as a means to fruit off of the success of their past 2 games. Its buggyness and glitchy game-play is finally going to get the formal attention it deserves, and lets hope that activision DON'T win that case. It was a cheap move to bag money from us poor game folk by releasing a game that wasn't finished or polished enough but had enough hype built up by its older brothers to gain immediate sales.

Japan's Decline - Wii Feature at IGN

Japan's Decline - Wii Feature at IGN

I seen this coming..... Japan's gamers make up a very different type of taste than almost ALL other western countries. I never really liked japan games much at all before unless they held the capcom logo or they was produced by probably my most favorite game developer of all time, Shigeru Miyamoto. Hell where the PSP is a market master on the other side of the world, down here people barely use it for anything more than a way to burn time on long road trips or a way to store music (At least thats how everyone at my school used them for :/ ). I mean look at this >>>>>

THATS INSANE!!! I don't see that many PSP games in my local Gamestop or even the my largest pawnshop, and they say in the article that is a "small" section of the PSP aile.

Japan has always been culturally alienated from the rest of the world ever since the beginning of recorded history and thats probably how its going to stay. Hell even some of their most well known game developers are leaving to join a western company on account of the lack of interest they have in their own homeland when it comes to making ANYTHING that don't have a combination of at least 2 of either A: a cute furrie animal that is capable of speech or some advanced task. B: has turn-based snooze-fest combat. or C: Has the most cheesiest dialog possible.

Don't get me wrong, I like turn-based games if they have to do with MMORTSs or D&D or likewise table top games. But in fully 3d combat I will NEVER find a place for it.

Kon'nichiwa ^_^
Silly Japanese

Note: I am not racist against the japanese, I just hate their games, :D

Neat looking, New MMO

Its called Miner Wars, just ran into it a few minutes ago.  Wasn't able to download the demo since I am on my laptop which is useless for playing games of ANY type since my desktop died :(.  So I wasnt able to give it a brief play through so I cant say much more than what I read on the site and my impression on what I read.

The game is played in a fully 3D wide open world with mechanics and looks similar to that of EVE, since its obviously in space.  But with the ability to mine deep in asteroids with a FULLY destructible environment and a large part seems to involve combat between other ships, possible other players in both tunnels possible made by you or other players and in open space could host some memorable and fun experiences.  You also seem to be able to build space stations and MAYBE build your own ship.  Although right now the MMO part of the game is not available yet, but the single player version with im guessing a little co-op ability is currently the only version that can be played. This is certainly something I would like to check out as soon as I buy me a new hard drive for my desktop.

To Check out the game click HERE, there is also a demo to try out as well

Jurassic Park the Game and Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of time remake????

I just took a short strole into Game Informers article archives and found This very recent article about development of a Jurassic Park game?  I wonder how thats going to turn out.
I play ALOT of jurassic park games in the past (JP: Operation Genesis, some virtual boardgame, the sega genesis Jurassic Park, and some decently addicting game where I had to genetically create jurassic park dinosaurs and battle against other dinosaurs.)  But so far any dinosaur game i ever ran into that got the most attention was just simple Run and Gun style games that wasnt very good to begin with.  But you never know it might be an interesting title, I'll just have to find out when they release more details on what the game is going to be and how its going to play.

Now on my IGN stroll I came across a few articles talking about one of my favorite video game pastimes, The legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time and saw they are making a remake of shorts that will have improved graphics and cutscenes.  It might be worth checking into if I ever decide to get a 3DS.
Here are a few links on it>>>

Look familiar anyone?

The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim

Game informer is awesome!!  I just checked out their article about Skyrim on their website.  Damn this game sounds good.  Lets just pray they dont drop any of those features before release like they did with alot of them awesome features like theiving npcs, npcs getting into fights, npcs exploring on their own, and much better interactions with the player character like asking for duels and such with Oblivion, that disapointed me.

Now one thing im worried about with one thing they promised is that the level-scaling would be similar to that of fallout 3?  I hope its less level-dependant than even fallout 3 was.  I love the risk that I could run into a monster or npc that could totally kick my ass.  I want to have to run and pick my fights wisely in the eariler lvls.  Morrowind was awesome for that since no matter where I went their was always something either more powerful than I was or something weaker than was and that is what made morrowind so appealing to me the most.

"Games are no longer for gamers..."

Something that has been troubling me the most about the gaming industry lately is how games are getting more and more simple.  Yea your probably thinking "Simple???????  Have you seen how some of these games look?????) Well yes I have, and if that is what ran through your mind at that time you deserve to get hit in the head with my grand dad's shillelagh. (A blunt stick used as a cane, Leprecons anyone??)

What I meant was gameplay, which is to me the most important aspect of any good video game.  I don't want it to easy, I like a healthy challenge, some complex game play mechanics, and for gods sake let go of my hand after the first 20 minutes of gameplay.  Casual gamers are ruining the gaming industry since more and more companys keep trying to streamline games to a point where the most complex feature of the game is, point at the bad guy, shoot, YAY.  Which to me is basically the most popular gaming genre, First Person Shooters.
Don't get me wrong, allot of first person shooters have great storys (The Halo series is the first to come to mind for me.) which is a really important feature too.   And some moments that really get your adrenaline pumping, which is another as well.  But its because of  this simple mechanic and its great popularity is why companys are trying to make games less and less fun to play just so they can milk the much larger casual gamer crowd of as much money as possible instead of making a work of art and creativity that has more meaning that can captivate the gamer.  Worse is when they try to get the game out as soon as possible and end up shipping a buggy, unfinished game

I just hope that company's begin to realize that they are making more consumer trash then actual games and will start to put more work into them like they used too and for gods sake not another Call of Duty (Good games but they are starting to get real shallow, Black Ops disappointed me.  And I know im probably going to get flamed for saying that.)  Yes there are a few good company's out there that DON'T listen to the whines of the casual group and actually make their games fun without the thought of making it for morons or 5 year olds. Obsidian Entertainment be praised for making Fallout: New Vegas with a hardcore mode.  Even the first fallout was decent when it came to difficulty and features.

Now that I have finished my rant I will put in the spotlight on 2 beloved game company's which have been pridelessly dumbing down their games lately.

Bethesda-
I love the elderscrolls series and has played it since Daggerfall and has loved every bit of it.  But oblivion being a beautiful game didn't have nearly as much personality as morrowind and not nearly as much difficulty.  The horrible level-scaling alone was a terrible move and completely did not have that sense of wildness morrowind had, and the fast travel streamlined the game way to much, I loved the exploration aspect of morrowind and having to pay to travel long distances in short amounts of time.  I do love TES 4 Oblivion but sadly that is only after heavily modded.  PLEASE do better with TES: Skyrim Bethesda, you can do better than what you did to Oblivion.

Gas Powered Games
I was very disappointed with SupCom 2.  Since I prided you as being a company that loved complexity has shown that you can fall for the whines casual gamers.  PLEASE do better with your new game Kings and Castles.
http://gaspowered.com/kingsandcastles/  - Just for those who would like to check it out, it might be pretty good by how its starting to look in his video blog. (which is very entertaining to watch by the way.)
